![[Signed picture of Vincent Price and myself]](images/price.jpg)
That picture was taken in 1986, when I went to see Price speak at a conference on Disney films at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. ( The Great Mouse Detective had just been released.) I really didn't even expect to talk to him, so naturally I was quite surprised when I got to meet him. It was my mom, however, who took the photo (she had to come because I wasn't quite old enough to drive); it hadn't occurred to me to ask for a picture, but Mr. Price was quite the gentleman and perfectly happy to stand for the photo. (Mom's probably kicked herself for not snapping off a second photo when I turned to thank Mr. Price and he kissed me!).
I had the photo signed a couple of years later when I went to the kickoff of a 3D film festival in Los Angeles; the first film screened was House of Wax and so Price had been invited to the premiere (as well as the film's director, Andre de Toth). I simply took the photo and a pen in my coat pocket.
George Long has a nice tribute page to this fine actor.
